Sharlene was born and raised in the Vancouver area. Shortly after graduating she moved to Alberta. But life on the prairies was not for her and it wasn’t long before she and her family returned to the coast of BC and settled on Vancouver Island.
Sharlene has studied with many notable artists and has also attended courses at Victoria College of Art and Vancouver Island School of Art. Sharlene is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists and a signature member and Past President of the Victoria Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Sharlene was also one of 5 directors at the Coast Collective Art Centre, managing the art gallery.
Sharlene paints primarily in acrylics and oils, but also ventures into watercolour and printmaking. Light is an integral part of her work, whether to enhance and define the composition of a still life or to capture sunlight in nature.
