Rita is a contemporary artist living in Victoria, B.C. and a member of Xchanges Gallery. Following a career as a journalist in Toronto, she turned to visual art, mainly abstract, as an alternative form of creative expression.
Through the use of colour, lines and shapes, her work seeks to find balance between the positive and negative, reflecting an often chaotic world we live in. Through the use of layering, she also offers the viewer a window into her process. She sometimes uses digital applications to work out ideas, and paints mostly in acrylic.
Rita has studied at the Toronto School of Art, the Vancouver Island School of Art, and has participated in shows in Toronto and Victoria. They include the Moss St. Paint-In, Metchosin Art Pod and a joint exhibition at Xchanges Gallery in Victoria.
