Gary, a resident of Victoria, BC, creates intricate works in wood, stained glass, and reclaimed materials. His love of woodworking began in his father’s workshop and grew through hands-on learning, formal training, and two years of study in Native art traditions – which deepened his connection to woodcraft. Over time, he immersed himself in the art of stained glass—learning both foil and came techniques that allow for precision and expressive depth. This new medium opened up a world of color, transparency, and light, enabling him to weave intricate patterns and moods into his work.
Guided by curiosity and his personal mantra—“Why build simple? Create beauty.”—Gary brings a transformative eye to the everyday object. He finds inspiration in weathered driftwood and forgotten urban cast-offs, reimagining them through the lens of craftsmanship and creativity. Each piece he creates is a fusion of raw material and refined vision, shaped into something timeless and full of character.
