Claudia trained originally in fine arts at the University of Calgary and works primarily in oils. From intimate investigations of birds and flowers to the inspiring and monumental landscapes of mountains and sea, her work invites us to stop, to see, and to surrender to the spell nature weaves. Her work is fully grounded in the Canadian West, where natural beauty abounds – from the clear, brilliant light of the Prairies, with its massive skies and otherworldly vistas, to the ever changing scenery of the West Coast, with its interplay between sea, sand, and forest. She paints these places from her own encounters, in hopes of sharing the joy, power, and beauty that nature provides.
