Christine is a weaver and a fibre artist. She weaves household linens including placemats, napkins, runners and cushions, but also likes to design and create clothing. She draws inspiration for her work from the natural world, its colours, textures and patterns.
Christine likes to work 3-dimensionally with fibre, yarn and fabric and sees designing garments as a sculptural exercise. She is interested in the ways clothing companies use our bodies to advertise their brands and social mores and is interested in subverting their messages by choosing natural fibres and techniques that have the smallest impact on the environment. She creates slow clothing and linens that will last years. She knits, sews, dyes, spins, weaves and felts, choosing those techniques which best fulfill her design plans.
